eSign
The eSign service enables the customer to sign digital documents electronically and in compliance with the law. The signing can be done individually and directly on a document or can be provided by a process in a workflow of an application.
Non-regulated advanced electronic signatures (FES) can be used for everyday use - taking into account the relevant regulations of ETH Zurich.
Compliance with the requirements of the relevant ETH Zurich regulations is the respon?sibil?ity of the service users. When using the eSign service from Adobe, no check is performed as to whether the users are authorized to legally sign the document to be signed (contract, etc.) as ETH representatives in accordance with the applicable regulations of ETH Zurich.
The eSign service from Adobe therefore expressly does not release the service users from consulting the applicable regulations (e.g. financial regulations) regarding signature regulations at ETH Zurich and ensuring that they are authorized to sign the document to be signed in accordance with the applicable regulations of ETH Zurich.
The following protected pageRisk information regarding eSignlock must be read before using the service. Also inform the signatories of the agreements and contracts you have prepared or forward the risk information if you have not already done so.
See recommendations of the Legal Service for replacement of original signatures.
The Adobe eSign service is to be used exclusively for signing documents created and distributed by ETH Zurich. Documents sent by other parties to ETH Zurich for signing have basically nothing to do with the service, although it would be possible to process such documents via Adobe Sign as well.
Furthermore, the service should primarily be used for transactions with external (non ETH Zurich) parties. In order to avoid unnecessary costs, the service should only be used in special cases for business within ETH Zurich.
Important note
The system requirements for eSign can be found on::

Use of eSign on Linux is not supported.
By using electronic signatures, digital documents that are to be signed no longer have to be printed out, signed by hand, and sent. This means that media discontinuities can be avoided in the signature process, thus increasing efficiency.
Likewise, shipping or travel times are eliminated, which substantially shortens the cycle time of the process and reduces costs.
To apply for and use the service, the user must be a member of ETH Zurich.
Persons who are involved in a signature process but who are member of ETH Zurich must have a device that can receive SMS.
The service is centrally financed by ID. If it is determined that the service is not being used in the sense of the work to be performed, the ID reserves the right to charge for it (also retroactively) or to block it.
The eSign service is activated by purchasing the corresponding license in the IT Shop (Menu: Software & Licenses, Order Software Product, Adobe Acrobat Sign).
A user guide (external pageAdobe Acrobat Sign - Learn and Supportcall_made) is available for each user. In addition, extensive training material from the service provider (Adobe Inc) is available in the form of short videos and multilingual documentation.
